Recovery usually takes 1 to 2 weeks. Once at home, follow these recommendations to support a smooth recovery:
- - Follow your doctor's instructions.
- - Shower as usual.
- - Gently wash the incision area with water and mild soap.
- - Move and elevate your legs while in bed. This reduces the risk of blood clots.
- - Take prescribed pain medication only as long as needed. For mild pain, over-the-counter options such as ibuprofen or naproxen may be used.
- - Avoid strenuous exercise for 2 to 6 weeks.
- - Do not drive until your doctor authorizes it.
- - Do not resume sexual activity until your doctor advises. You may need to wait two weeks.
- - Follow the indications regarding follow-up ultrasounds. These studies should be performed if cysts are likely to return.
